The PMC 8 SUB is a versatile studio subwoofer that can be used in two different ways. It can be used conventionally with any monitor speaker to extend bass frequencies in a stereo configuration or reproduce an LFE channel in a surround sound configuration. In combination with PMC proximity or midfield monitors, it can be used to form an XBD system. As an XBD expansion, the PMC 8 SUB's audio input passes through the same filters as the main monitor's woofer, doubling the low-frequency content and allowing the system to achieve a higher maximum SPL. However you use it, the PMC 8 SUB improves the performance of your monitoring system to help you make better-sounding recordings.
Optimized electronics, formidable power
The PMC 8 SUB is amplified by a state-of-the-art ICEPower amplifier that delivers 300 watts to the 200mm low-frequency driver. To provide configuration flexibility, the XLR input can be switched between analog and AES digital. A partnership with iconic high-end consumer electronics company Bang & Olufsen, ICEPower was founded in 1999 at a time when Class D amplification, which had existed since the 1950s, had matured and was beginning to be used in applications professional audio systems, such as active monitoring boxes, where high power, light weight and low heat dissipation operation were desirable.
