A transmission line is a method of loading a low-frequency speaker into an enclosure so that unwanted frequencies radiating from the back of the driver are absorbed, allowing only the lower frequencies to pass through. These frequencies emerge from a front cabinet output, which effectively acts as an auxiliary LF driver that extends bass response while absorbing unwanted low frequencies that contribute to harmonic distortion, detracting from the upper bass and midrange.
