The first physically modeled electric bass. The bass of the Producer's dreams. MODO BASS® is the first physically modeled virtual bass instrument that gives you unprecedented realistic performance on your bass lines.
As a producer, you want the best bass sound possible… you want realism, credibility and authenticity that provides the most faithful and inspiring performance. Sometimes you just can't hire the right bass player, and some virtual instruments out there can leave you feeling dull and take away your inspiration.
Meet MODO BASS — the industry's first true physically modeled instrument from the leader in analog modeling technology. After 8 years of working and developing in collaboration with one of the oldest universities in Europe, MODO BASS is an entirely new generation of instrument that offers the best of both worlds: the realism and sound of an instrument being played by a great musician and the convenience of virtual instrument in plug-in.
But MODO BASS is not by definition a virtual instrument, it is a completely new technology that redefines realism in a computer-based instrument. BASS MODE is the first technology of its kind, which models the entire bass playing process. Each component that contributes to the unique timbre properties of a bassist playing an instrument has been modeled, and the effects of each component on each other - the interactions between each sonic variable - have been recreated to give you unparalleled dynamics, breath and performance. You see, traditional virtual instruments are based on recorded instrument samples. MODO BASS is not a sample-based instrument, but rather a completely new technology where sound is generated by recreating the physical properties of a real instrument - everything that makes an instrument create sound is physically modeled and the sound is synthesized in real time.
Unlike traditional sample-based virtual instruments, MODO BASS uses innovative technology to bring bass lines to life. Unlike traditional sample-based virtual instruments, MODO BASS uses modal synthesis technology and an ultra-optimized sound engine to model each string as a non-linear resonator.
The acoustic behavior of each string is determined by its physical parameters, as well as the modeling of the musician's action as non-linear physical interaction in certain areas of the string's surface and the interaction of the string with the instrument's fingerboard, body and pickups. Using IK's excellence in analog modeling, the amplifiers and effects from the electric bass setup are added to the sound chain.
All of this gives MODO BASS the ability to create real-time sound based on the construction and components of the bass, combined with the musician's technique and finesse, and the ever-changing dynamic interplay between the two. Simply put, MODO BASS brings true bass performance and sound to the virtual world — for the first time. And since it doesn't use samples, MODO BASS uses very little memory.
BASS MODE is the complete synthesis of bass playing and as such allows you to adjust and select virtually every aspect of your playing. This allows MODO BASS to give you an infinite variety of bass sounds because, just like a real bass player, it gives you a different performance every time. With MODO BASS, you take unprecedented control over every aspect and control of a performance.
2 new members in the family. BASS MODE gives you 14 iconic basses that span the history of music — 14 basses that define literally every style and genre of recorded electric bass music.
Each bass model was chosen for its particular timbre and wood sound, with every detail of the instrument's performance meticulously modeled and recreated.
Finger — Finger selects a finger bass playing style, one of the most common ways to bring out inspiring bass tones. With it, you can switch which fingers you use to play and how much force you put on the strings.
Slap — This mode recreates the acts of “slapping” and “pulling” the bass strings with the thumb and forefinger. Since there are no samples being triggered for each style, each tap will sound slightly different, just like a real bass player would.
Pick — Gain more transient attack on the string with a pick. Here you can choose the physical thickness of the pick, as well as the picking style, down or alternate. Each touch of the reed produces a unique sound.
Mute — You can also apply muting techniques to play any style, another first for software instruments. The mute control allows you to add just the right amount of damping to the strings to produce a human playing element of the bass technique.
Different strings offer different sounds and tonal qualities. In BASS MODE, you can customize your string choice and choose the playing type used on the bass.
First, you can choose the number of strings on all models (4, 5 or 6) to determine the tessitura of the bass note scale. In MODO BASS you can easily transform any 4-string model into 5- or 6-string basses with the click of your mouse. Furthermore, with the “Drop” function, you can extend the range of any model even further. The DROP option tunes the lowest string one tone lower, taking the MI to D (or the SI to A in the case of 5 or 6 string configurations). In addition to extending the bass's tessitura, this “loosens” the string, providing a particular sound and behavior. The DROP tuning is typical of Hard Rock and Metal.
So you can choose the gauge of the strings, which affects timbre and sustain, you can choose the age of the strings, which changes the relative brightness of the sound, in addition to the physical construction of the strings (wound, smooth, etc.), changing the “slide noise” introduced when moving your hands across the bass neck. In addition to string-specific parameters, you can change the physical scale length of the bass, as well as the string action, also known as the distance between the strings and the fingerboard. Changing the action changes the timbre and the amount of fret noise when playing — lower action produces more fret noise when played aggressively, just like a real bass.
The electronics section is where you customize the bass pickups and wiring. This section allows you to experiment in real time with different types of bass pickups, the position of each one (each bass can have up to 2 pickups, even if the bass model originally comes with just one), and you can adjust the tuning parameters. frequency response of each. There's even a piezo pickup control that lets you mix a piezo signal mounted under the bridge with the signal from your pickup.
Start with the original pickup or pickups for each bass model and adjust the volume balance independently for each. Want a different pickup in the neck position? No problem. We have more than 24 individual pickup models to choose from, each with its own personality and tone characteristics. You can also freely move the pickups around the pickup area giving you endless possibilities. Experiment with different pickups, different pickup positions, and different playing positions at the same time. With MODO BASS you can create combinations that would be literally impossible to create without a lot of soldering and cabling adjustments!
Adjust the overall pickup output with the tone control, just like the tone control on the physical bass. You can switch the pickup from Passive to Active, and in doing so you'll have access to an additional parametric EQ that allows you to fine-tune the tone for perfect balance.
With MODO BASS you have full control over the signal flow and have 7 bass effects pedals and 2 classic bass amplifiers. Choose between Octaver, Distortion, Chorus, Compressor, Delay, Envelope Filter or Graphic EQ. All pedals were derived from AmpliTube Custom Shop's world-class models. Each effect pedal gives you full control over the effect applied to the signal, parameter adjustment, and overall volume output for the next effect. Using IK's advanced non-linear modeling technology, the pedalboard not only provides ultra-accurate modeling of the desired effect, but also models the interactions of the effects in the chain with each of the other effects in the chain and gives you simply worldly performance and realism. impossible to find in other software instruments.
Choose from a classic all-tube amp with a 1x15 cabinet, or a solid-state model with a 4x10 cabinet. Each amp gives you full control over the gain structure, EQ (with midrange adjustment on the tube amp), and additional fine-tuning options with graphic EQ. There's also a global bypass feature that allows you to route the bass signal from BASS MODE to another amp effects modeling suite like AmpliTube Custom Shop, where there's a whole new world of sonic options available for bass tones and effects waiting to be explored. you.
So if you're looking to bring your bass lines to life, to truly put performance into your next production, put MODO BASS to work for you. You will be amazed by the realism.
BASS MODE also gives you MIDI control of critical parameters that you can automate in real time. In the MIDI Control section you can remap key parameters or add controls to any MIDI control switch for easier playability and programming. Control and adjust the application of Vibrato and the amount of bend, plus the amount of slide and detach noise.
What's more, BASS MODE keyswitching allows you to instantly switch between CHORD mode and NOTE mode, the type of touch used when playing, the fingers used for phrasing, the playing style, giving you complete control over the final sound signature.
Also, using your DAW's automation, you can control other important parameters like playing position. In fact, varying this parameter while playing is one of the secrets to achieving true realism, and MODO BASS is the only virtual instrument that is truly capable of making it possible.
