The Ultimate Prophet-10 by synth legend Dave Smith

Renowned synth designer Dave Smith is back, and he's brought with him the most powerful Prophet-10 yet! A reimagining of the iconic 10-voice polyphonic synthesizer, the Prophet-10 Rev4 is packed with features from all Prophet-10 iterations. It inherits its ultra-stable voltage-controlled oscillators from the Rev3 and offers a choice between the Rossum-designed filter of the Rev1 and Rev2 or the Curtis-designed filter of the Rev3. A unique vintage button lets you choose between the behavior characteristics of previous versions. With its button-per-function architecture, the Prophet-10 never fails to inspire. To get you started right away, the Prophet-10 comes loaded with a stellar selection of factory presets and includes 200 user slots for storing your custom patches. Not only does the Prophet-10 sound amazing, it's housed in a collector's-grade steel case, with hand-oiled black walnut accents and end cheeks. Dave Smith and the folks at Sequential strike gold with the Prophet-10, a drool-worthy synth for analogue aficionados!

solid oscillators

The two beating hearts of the Prophet-10 are its dual CEM 3340 analog Curtis VCOs. Found on the Rev3 Prophet-10s, the CEM 3340 VCOs are rock solid with virtually no tuning drift. Its implementation in the Rev3 represented a major turning point in the Prophet-10's design, enhancing the performance and sonic quality of the powerful synthesizer. As with legacy models, the Prophet-10 Rev4 offers switchable simultaneous waveforms — sawtooth and pulse on oscillator A and sawtooth, pulse and triangle on oscillator B, with pulse width modulation on both and hard sync. to shape the timbres of the oscillators. With the CEM 3340 VCOs, you have the ideal building blocks to create harmonically rich analogue patches.

Lush and dreamy analog filters

Dave and the team at Sequential went beyond the Prophet-10 filter section. Users can choose from two authentic recreations of classic four-pole resonant low-pass filters—the Dave Rossum-designed 2140 (a modern update of the original 2040 found in Rev1 and Rev2) and the Doug Curtis-designed CEM 3320. The 2140 is perfect for rough basslines and dense, sweeping pads, while the 3320 excels at dialing in laser-sharp highs for cutting through lead lines. Both filters can be driven to maddening self-oscillation, and a dedicated 4-stage ADSR filter envelope gives you extensive control over shaping the filters' behavior.

modulation mountains

If you're the synth type that likes to take the INIT patch stuff off and dive into some serious sound design, then the Prophet-10 is for you! Although simple, its modulation controls offer incredible flexibility to create vintage-style basses, leads, pads, horns and strings, or generate mind-blowing textures and effects. The Prophet-10's unique LFO provides three simultaneous waveforms — sawtooth, triangle, and square — and an initial amount control. Use the LFO for pitch and PWM modulation of oscillators A and B or send to the cutoff filter. And assign any of the mod targets to the mod wheel. Additionally, the Prophet-10's Poly-Mod section allows you to use the Filter Envelope and Oscillator B as mod sources to affect the frequency and pulse width of the A oscillator, as well as filter cutoff.

Luxury performance controls

One of the most appealing aspects of analog synthesizers is the tactile experience of interacting with their knobs, switches, sliders, and wheels—and the Prophet-10 has a lot! With a knob-by-function design, the Prophet-10 treats you to detailed control over every parameter, so you can transform patches into live, vibrant performances. The mod wheel and spring-loaded pitch wheel are highly responsive and a delight to use, and the Prophet-10's premium semi-weighted Fatar keyboard feels exceptional under your fingers. It's ideal for taking advantage of the Prophet-10's speed and aftertouch capabilities.

Turn up the vintage vibe

Though inspired by vintage Prophet-10s, this latest iteration features modern reliability and high-fidelity sounds. But what if you want to inject a little old-school instability into your sound? No problem! The Prophet-10 has a nifty vintage control knob that lets you change the behavior to suit your revision model. Keep it intact or go back in time to the rare and highly temperamental Rev1. Do you think part of the charm of old analogue synths is their unpredictability? Then you will enjoy this feature!
