Gaussian Greatness – Resurrected
Looking for classic 1970s speakers from Gauss Speaker Company? Unfortunately, they are not easy to find. Fortunately, the Avantone Pro Gauss 7 resurrects this famous brand with wonderful sonic detail. This top-notch active studio monitor features a 7-inch AC10-MLF-derived woofer with a familiar-looking white wood fiberglass/cellulose cone, plus an AMT tweeter with a 65mm PET film folded membrane . Power up a set of these studio monitors and you'll benefit from pronounced snap, excellent transient response, and an impressive frequency response of 30Hz to 22kHz. You also get incredible stereo imaging, an accurate mid-range, and a super-wide sweet spot that's sure to impress. Gauss 7 includes powerful, easy-to-use environment optimization controls,
Avantone White Cone Woofer — with some upgrades
Like Avantone's AC10-MLF driver, the Gauss 7's 7-inch woofer has an attractive white cone made from wood pulp and fiberglass. This speaker's pronounced pop and fast transient response are reminiscent of Avantone's CLA-10, but with an extra dose of bass. The woofer motor structure sports 1008 low-carbon steel construction, which facilitates maximum level magnetic flux density between the pole piece and top plate. What's more, a Japanese-designed unidirectional styrene-butadiene rubber surround optimizes woofer excursion and power. This speaker also includes a rear-firing bass port for punchy, low-end response down to 30 Hz.
AMT tweeter produces high-fidelity, reference-quality sound
Thanks to its high-fidelity GAU-AMT tweeter, the Avantone Pro Gauss 7 produces incredible detail, with incredible stereo imaging. This Air Motion Transformer (AMT) tweeter produces a small vertical throw that minimizes unwanted room reflections. Additionally, the tweeter's 65mm folded polyethylene terephthalate (PET) membrane ensures unparalleled transient response, courtesy of its low resonant frequency qualities and low crossover point. You'll also benefit from exceptional high frequency extension of up to 22kHz. We found the Gauss 7 to be an honest-sounding speaker with zero exaggerated frequencies — it makes an excellent reference monitor.
Easy room optimization with acoustic tuning controls
Gauss 7 includes easy-to-use acoustic tuning controls. A 3-position acoustic positioning switch makes it easy to optimize the speaker for the boundary spaces of your room; a 3-position High Trim switch compensates for additional room deficiencies. You also get independent gain controls on each speaker for easy system calibration.
