The inspiration behind the WA-8000 used a K67-style capsule, a multi-pattern microphone capsule found in many of the world's most renowned tube microphones. Warm Audio painstakingly reverse-engineered the original design, tweaking the frequency response and machining the capsule from solid brass. The result is a highly detailed, responsive microphone that accurately captures the nuances of any source. While the WA-8000 is destined to become your go-to vocal mic, it also excels on acoustic guitars, pianos and other full-spectrum instruments.
Custom heatsink optimizes performance
Sure, it looks amazing, but the custom external heatsink assembly on the WA-8000 does a lot more than just raise the prestige level of your voice booth. Designed to draw heat away from the tube and microphone electronics, the heatsink helps maintain an optimal operating temperature, which lowers the noise level for the cleanest recordings possible. Not only that, but it also makes it easy to change tubes, so your sessions aren't interrupted if a tube falls out.
Carefully selected new and old stock tubes and Lundahl transformers
Once again looking for authenticity, Warm Audio went back to the source when selecting the tube for the WA-8000. After testing several 6AU6 tubes from various manufacturers, they settled on new and old tubes to give the WA-8000 its distinctive open tone and mids. A custom-designed Lundahl transformer combines the tube and capsule in a tried-and-true circuit design that has graced countless successful records.
