The '47 Classic — Expertly Captured
Warm Audio has established itself as the premier source for faithful, high-quality recreations of historic microphones, and the new WA-47F continues that tradition. Here, they have their eye on the extremely rare large-diaphragm FET microphone — if you've ever used a classic '47 FET microphone, then you know what they're looking for. Exceptionally high SPL handling made it a powerful and versatile microphone, with vocals and drum sounds (kick drum in particular) being the main use cases. The era-accurate K47-style capsule houses your premium components, with a 10dB booster and 140Hz low-cut filter. Vocals are especially rich, thanks to a precise, true cardioid pattern with a unique pickup that makes the positioning of the vocals among the live instrumentation a standout feature.
Full spectrum recording
Inspired by its namesake inspiration, the WA-47F features a K47-style capsule. The meticulously reverse-engineered FET design has resulted in the faithful recreation of a condenser microphone whose high SPL allows for a wide range of response without risk of overload. For vocals, a light, not overly bright sound allows vocals to fit smoothly into a mix of live instruments without losing nuance. The maximum SPL of 137dB can be increased to 147dB thanks to the 10dB pad, making it a phenomenal option for miking drums and amplified instruments. Additionally, with the addition of a 140Hz low-cut filter, bass muddyness is eliminated without compromising substance.
Electric sensation
This workhorse microphone may sound great, but its internal electronics show that it barks and bites. A gold-plated capacitor creates exceptional conductivity for the large-diaphragm single backplate design. The TAB-Funkenwerk custom output transformer, premium Fairchild transistors, and polystyrene wima capacitors give this microphone a 150 ohm output impedance, making it ideal for a multitude of professional-quality uses while keeping noise low and high power. The cardioid polar pattern is pure, tight, and perfect for capturing the natural punch of louder sounds without flattening your more nuanced faculties.
