Resurrecting a sought-after and famous compression unit used on many Beatles albums and heard on countless recordings, the RS124 Chandler Limited Compressor is a smooth, powerful mono compressor, powered by real analog tubes and with functions reimagined for the modern studio environment. . Modeling three distinct versions of the legendary Abbey Road compressor, the powerful RS124 rack unit harnesses the sound and character of the original, but also offers many new functions, including stereo link capability for double the compression, selectable output impedance (classic 200 ohms or the modern 600 ohms) and a new and exclusive SuperFuse mode that greatly enhances the output signal with a livelier sound that will seem to jump straight from your monitors.

The RS124 sports attack control (with settings for each modeled revision), 11-position rebound/release control, a hold setting to keep the source signal compressed to the most recently processed peak, and full input and output attenuation. With transformer-balanced XLR input and output connectors, a circuit rebalancing utility for those rare cases when valves become misaligned, and a low-noise internal power supply, this rack unit is ready to handle any potential scenario and start producing award-winning products. winning recordings immediately.

The original Abbey Road compressor
First designed in 1960 by Abbey Road technical chief Bill Livy, deputy chief Len Page and experienced EMI audio designer Mike Bachelor, the Abbey Road RS124 compressor is one of the most desired and mysterious pieces of recording equipment. already developed. Born from the insufficient Altec 436B acquired by EMI in the late 1950s for Abbey Road, the RS124 compressor is most closely associated with the recordings made by the Beatles at Abbey Road Studios. Present in practically all Beatles sessions, the RS124 left its signature on most of the catalogue.

The RS124's undeniably smooth character and ability to tame transients without muffling the sound at high compression levels quickly became popular with Abbey Road Studios engineers and widely used throughout the now historic studio, for tracking, bus compression, mixing and mastering.
